What is Sibling Skills Club?Sibling Skills Club offers fun, interactive workshops designed to help children prepare for life with a new baby sibling. Through play-based learning, storytelling, and hands-on activities, we build confidence, encourage bonding, and ease the transition for families welcoming a new baby.

What happens during a Sibling Skills Group Workshop?Each 1-hour session includes games, role play, storytelling, and hands-on activities to help children understand their new role. They’ll learn how to bond with the baby, express their emotions, and feel excited about their new sibling.

Where are your workshops held?Our group workshops take place monthly on Sundays at Well & Good in Godalming, Surrey. Private family sessions can be at home (within 1 hour of Godalming) or online.

Can I bring my baby along to the session?For group sessions, we encourage parents to come with only their older child, so they get focused attention. For private sessions, younger siblings are welcome.

When should my child attend a workshop?Ideally, during the third trimester, but children can benefit at any stage before or after the baby’s arrival.

Are the workshops suitable for children with additional needs?Yes! We welcome all children and can adjust our sessions to suit different learning styles and needs. If your child would benefit from a more personalized experience, our private sessions may be ideal.

What if my child is shy or nervous about attending?That’s completely normal! Our play-based approach and friendly facilitators help children feel comfortable and engaged. Private sessions may be a better option if your child needs extra support.

What should my child bring to a session?Nothing is required! We provide all materials, props, and fun activities. If your child has a favourite doll or teddy, they’re welcome to bring it along to “practice” being a big sibling.

How many children are in a group session?Our small-group workshops are limited to 10 children per session to ensure a fun, engaging, and supportive environment.

What’s the difference between group workshops and private sessions?Group Workshops: Small, interactive sessions for ages 2-7, held monthly in Godalming. Private Family Sessions: One-on-one tailored workshops at home or online, perfect for children who may feel overwhelmed in a group setting or need extra support.

Do you offer refunds or rescheduling if we can’t attend?Yes, we understand that plans change! We offer rescheduling if you let us know at least 48 hours before the session. Refunds may be available depending on circumstances.

Do you offer virtual sibling preparation sessions?Yes! If you’re outside our service area or prefer an online option, we offer virtual private sessions, tailored to your child’s needs.

Do parents need to stay during the workshops?Parents are welcome to join in or observe! We recommend that the non-pregnant parent attends, giving the expecting parent a well-earned rest.

Can my child attend more than one session?Absolutely! Children often benefit from repeating sessions, reinforcing their learning and building excitement for their new sibling.

How can these sessions help prevent sibling rivalry?We focus on building positive associations with becoming a big sibling. By nurturing confidence, empathy, and inclusion, children feel valued, reducing feelings of jealousy or insecurity.
